Celebrate the 30th Annual Benchmark Summit
From March 10–13, 2027, we gather in Fort Worth, Texas, for the National Benchmark Summit. This year marks our 30th Annual Conference. Because of this milestone, the event offers expanded education, new insights, and meaningful collaboration.
In addition, the Summit brings together clinical experts, legal professionals, and life care planners from across the country. As a result, attendees gain practical tools they can use in daily practice.

Advancing Your Life Care Planning Practice:
Strengthening Your Knowledge of Standards and Processes Through Self-Assessment and Growth
Standards of Practice guide life care plan development across a wide range of professional backgrounds and levels of experience. This presentation will explore the fundamental importance of Standards of Practice in individual life care planning, focusing on their application, purpose, and implementation. Participants will evaluate how standards and competencies shape their own practice, fostering a deeper understanding of their impact on case development and decision-making. Additionally, this session will provide insights into identifying gaps and opportunities for growth, enabling life care planners to enhance their professional practice through self-assessment and continuous improvement. By critically examining their methodologies, attendees will gain practical strategies to refine their approach, optimize outcomes, and uphold the standards in life care planning.
Objectives:
- Recognize how Standards of Practice are applied in individual life care planning practice
- Examine the purpose and implementation of Standards of Practice in life care planning.
- Evaluate the application of Standards of Practice and competencies within one’s individual life care planning process.
- Provide life care planners with insights on identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement in their individual life care planning practice.

Transfers, Cancellations, and Refunds
You may transfer your conference registration to another person at any time by notifying us in writing. If you must cancel, please notify the conference manager, Monique Gallery at monique@moniquegalleryevents.com, in writing 30-days prior to conference by March 4, 2025. You will receive a refund for your chosen ticket, less a $100 cancellation fee. Cancellations made after the deadline and “no-shows” will not be refunded.

Katie Niemeyer, CRNA
Entrepreneur and Philanthropist | SJ Syndrome of Texas
Katie Niemeyer is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), mother, philanthropist and entrepreneur who relentlessly encourages others to overcome obstacles and reach new goals. As a teen, Katie nearly died in a hospital burn unit in St. Louis, where she suffered from an adverse reaction to medication, a rare condition called Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Over the last twenty-eight years, she has drawn on her lifetime of experiences as a parent, registered nurse and SJS survivor to create a new business, fund groundbreaking medical research and inspire people to cross their own finish lines. In 2012, Katie designed the specialized athletic sweatband known as the Handana with the aim of helping all athletes and SJS survivors to persevere.
Denise Atwood, RN, JD, CPHRM, CLCP
Life Care Planner | Mackenzie Life Care Planning
Denise Atwood is a Certified Life Care Planner who has worked in nursing for over 30 years. Her clinical and professional experience covers a variety of areas, including the Adult and Pediatric ICU, Trauma, Burn, Emergency Room, and Surgical nursing, as well as Employee Health, Infection Control, Compliance, and Risk Management. She also hold a CPHRM certification – Certified Professional Health Care Risk Management. Ms. Atwood was an Adjunct Professor at both Ottawa University, the University of Phoenix and Grand Canyon University, teaching classes focusing on health law and ethics and ethics and legal issues in business. She also conducts nurse ethics evaluations, upon referral from the Arizona State Board of Nursing. Ms. Atwood has been a licensed attorney for over 14 years. She represents providers before licensing boards and performs appellate brief writing.
Kerri Martin, MSN, RN, FNP-C, CLCP
Life Care Planner | Mackenzie Life Care Planning
Kerri Martin is a Certified Life Care Planner with a family nurse practitioner background. She has 9 years of experience in primary care and surgery. Prior to practicing as a nurse practitioner, she worked as a registered nurse in the clinical areas of infectious disease, critical care, and surgery. She graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2014 with a master’s degree in nursing and from Tarleton State University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She works with both defense and plaintiff firms in creating and reviewing life care plans, as well as cost estimates. Kerri is a member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals, Texas Nurse Practitioner’s Association and East Texas Nurse Practitioner’s Association.
